Last I checked, nobody is offering sugar. Yes, there are "plenty" of other sites that you can illegally get maps. And breaking copyright law is always a crime. The point of a forum is NOT ONLY to post illegal things that break copyright law. But the ride was good while it lasted. There are other things (I will let you figure that out as part of self education) that users access a forum for. Nuff said!

OK on the copyright law...
But Sygic uses both TomTom and Here maps and they are here to download.
Navigon uses Here maps that you can still get
HERE WeGo uses Here maps and no problems to get the maps.
And many other gps app also.
None of these apps are blocked???
But if we are going down the road it must be for all, not just TomTom
The thing with TomTomGO is there is the free version and you can get any maps you want so copyright does not seem to play out here on the free full working version.
And like others have posted these items are all over the internet.
So happy surfing.
! agree with above BUT it's "currently" only Garmin themselves (and probably/possibly TomTom too) who want to make a point by threatening legal action specifically against this forum for encouraging piracy/infringement of IPR etc.
It seems a shame that admin won't stand up & be counted by posting a clear statement explaining the true reasoning behind this vague "don't post Garmin or TT maps any more" announcement.
Maybe Garmin and/or TT they think this forum is easy pickings compared with some of the other forums who may possibly be registered outside of Garmins/TT's legal jurisdiction. We all know other forums who have previously been forced to stop supporting particular GPS manufacturers and we also know many who seem immune to these threats.

For Garmin specifically. it's other "issues" than just uploading map (I can't go into it) For TomTom, it might just be the "large number" of maps posted. Oddly enough, I think metas and version charts are not under the "copyright" rule.

True, but I think some honey is better than no honey. And this forum need some honey. Buzz-buzz.

I do not understand any of this anymore.
I am one for transparency and not trying to second guess what is gong on here.
To many posts are showing up with a lot of bla bla.
No one is removing any of it.
This board was very well controlled before the so called crash.
Now it is just floating around waits for a new tomorrow.
If it is truly a copywriter issue then the forum leaders so post what really happened and be done with it.
If it is something other than that then spell it out.
Be professional enough to say what is going on.
But as long as we hear nothing a lot of FAKE NEWS just flies around.
What "FAKE NEWS"?
