Thread: noob needing help

i bought an old Tom Tom One XL Europe, it has a memory card slot and i have a memory card 2gb, how the hell do you put the latest maps onto it ?? i have tried to follow the tutorials without much sucess, now when i boot the Tom Tom without the memory card it always starts in a foriegn language, and wont get past the inital setup point of choosing a voice, it just freezes then reboots (with or without the memory card in)? i have formatted the memory card so it sould be ready for maps, but i just can't make no sense of the tutorials Any help would be excellent. the maps i need are the ones with the best coverage for western europe / scandinavia thanks Andy

For older devices like yours you need everything (apart from old map folders) from internal memomory plus your new map folder. These devices can only boot up & run from one or the other, not both at once.

Try to delete (not reformat) the card, copy across everything (incl your old map folder), insert into the slot & THEN switch on which should boot up off the card & automatically create a new ttgo.bif; once that's sorted then you should be able to replace the cards map folder with the new one, patch the navcore/activate the new map with FastActivate etc & away you go.

How about deleting all loose FILES from the card, using your card reader (not the device) connect to TTHome and let it update (incl add new voices etc) or maybe just try running clearflash.exe 3 times from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
