Hi GPSRS, simple question? Maybe mebbe not. Can I use one of my original TT Home backed up North American maps and reactivate it so to speak. Otherwise, what type of map will I need and what format/s do they come in? Device is GO 730
Finally found useful information. Previous never used tomtom devices. Thanks!

About zero useful info, but your device model and region.
which exactly maps (full version) you used before? Navcore version of your TT 730?
Thanks for the reply. That was my first post on this forum so I haven't quite gathered what info should go with the post requests. I think the navcore version is 9.5xx, shown with the charging/satellite panel on the device. The 3rd device was working ok but I couldn't update after getting a malformed... error. I tried the TT method of backing up the device and reformatting the Internal but upon trying the restore, it couldn't be found using TT Home. Naturally i went to the folders specified in Home preferences expecting the file/s to be there and were not. I spent some time searching for the file/s with date parameters/size, etc but didn't find anything relevant. I have been using the TT GO 730 since 2008. The first device got stolen so I replaced it from ebay, and acquired another 730 for backup as I like the device and the remote control a lot. So I have backed all of those up over the years and have about 27gb of map backups. What I would lke to know/do is use one of those maps on the latest device acquisition (number3) to activate it, maybe using fastactivate, or preferrably getting rid of the malformed error which still is showing in Home, after formatting Internal, and using one of the backups to restore or renew the device software. Are there known folders where TT puts backups, in what form (eg zip), and where items saved to computer go? I assumed the folder preferences would dictate, but hey maybe I am missing something.
So device number 2 is working and updating fine in Home. The maps I backed up are somewhat different in name- 1)North_America_2GB, a zip file with cab activation file, 2)cline.dat; cname.dat; cnode.dat 3)United_Stated_2GB which has the same named files as #2 (of course with all the other files). Then various others as zip or cab. Which backup came from which device I can't tell so that is why I woould like to use one and hactivate it. What can you tell me?
