I know I am a bit late on this post. I think the original poster was seeking the schematics for the device's internal electronics. The schematics would be electrical connections made by the PCB to the individual surface level components. Only TomTom would have the official schematics for this device. The document would be proprietary and highly confidential.
This is the double-edged sword, a company makes something, and somebody ends up needing to perform repairs on the item. Even if the repair person was officially licensed to perform repairs on the products, in most cases for small electronics, the repair person still could not obtain the schematics needed to perform repairs.
The only way to get schematics for a product like this, would be to have an electrical specialist, (someone with an experienced skill set and deep understanding of complex circuitry,) and have them "reverse-engineer" the product. This would be the process of taking a completed item and working backwards to get to the incomplete item. I have done such work on small electronics and it is legal to document schematics in this fashion. It is illegal to duplicate a protected work. So if I have a pallet of one model TomTom, took 20-40 units and reverse-engineered the products into pcb layouts, parts lists, electrical schematics, and component programming dump files. Used said information to repair the remaining units to resalable condition. That would be 100% legal. Obviously I would want to protect the information I compiled in the process as it costs me a lot of time, money, and equipment.
If I used the information I made and started producing "clones" of the product I would be breaking far too many laws to list.
So in short, if you need schematics, please clarify as to why it is that you "need" the schematics in the first place. Are you trying to fix a power issue? a hardware issue? and why is it that you have come to believe that an issue hardware related is the problem?
I am willing to give a helping hand. However I need to know the information about your device, the problem/s, the reason you believe schematics are needed, and how you determined a problem existed with the hardware itself, most importantly I need to know what has been attempted so far.
Hope I am not too late on this one!
Post is a request for Internal Hardware support. Should be placed in a Tomtom sub-forum for Internal Hardware. This is not a tutorial as it was initially posted, it provides no guidance to accomplish a particular goal, and is nothing more than a request by question for information.
Thanks for your suggestion, I'll talk with our TT Mod and will decide if we need that subsection.
For now moved to Discussions forum
Cheers
