I must be doing something wrong or missing something
Steps 1 to 4 - all ok & no problem.

    Got a folder named :-
    TT-Android-BackUp-Restore
Inside that is another folder named :-
    platform-tools
and a Windows Batch Tools named :-
    BackUp-Restore

Tried to run the batch tool - cant find where to edit line 3 anywhere ??
(My phone is a Galaxy S4)

    You must edit the BackUp-Restore.bat

    Line 1: @echo off
    Line 2:
    Line 3: SET AREA=nordic

Swap "nordic" with your mapname, i.g. europe

Edit: Tool does not work on Android 4.4.2 and his folder-structure like "....sdcard/Android/data/com.tomtom.europe/files/files..." (TomTom_Europe_v1.4_1729544_Cr@cked_o.apk/ SG Note II/ Win7 Ultimate64)

Message: "Das System kann die angegebene Datei nicht finden"/"system can not find the file specified"
work only original paths with my test. you can try edit also path in bat file, but you need to know settings path first
    com.tomtom.%AREA%

Got the glasses thanks, but never used a bat file before, let alone trying to edit one. Luckily google is quite helpful and managed to do it now, but as I've got v4.4.2 on my Galaxy S4 then I guess it is no good for me at the moment.

Managed to get this working with both my Galaxy S4 & my Galaxy Tab 3 - both with v4.4.2 & using ukireland map.
