Default Help updating maps on TomTom GO 520 M4 Series

    Hello!
I bought this gps one or two years ago used. The reason why I bought it was because it supported truck definitions but now I need to update maps for my region (Portugal) but cant figure out how to do it.
From what I read on the forums I first need to get acess to my gps through my pc to check the software version and map version but when I connect my gps to my pc nothing happens. I even tried using TOMTOMHome but the same happened....
My gps comes with a sdcard and inside it has lots of files. Do I just need to deal with those files?
I know I need to download the maps from other website but I dont know if I can just download the most recent for my gps without having acess to my gps information through PC...
All information I have is the one I have on the GPS settings
    Can somebody help me?
Why doenst the gps get recognized when using usb?
    Thank you

In principle you can simply edit the SD card in your PC, which is a lot faster than via the USB port.
If everything is on it you can use it in the GO

It is most likely that your USB connection is faulty if there is no response at all when you connect it to the PC.
Can you see if the 5 volt is being passed on?
Such a connection is easily damaged with a little rough insertion of the plug.

It would also be wise to try it on multiple PCs or a different cable.
Replacing the USB connection requires some manual skill

When I get home I will try with the other pc I have. And also check if the 5v is passing.
Thank you and will give more info later today!

    Small Update:
I think my NAVCORE version is 9.700 series so that means I can put Europe_TRUCK_1020_9254 on my gps right? From what I read this map version is compatible with my NAVCORE version.
Do I only have to follow those simple steps that I can find on the forum to update to this new map?

I managed to install a new map version!!!
All I did was follow that guide to update a map, step by step and downloaded a map from other forum.
    Thank you everyone!
One question I have... Why cant I see any relevant points of interest in my country? Do I have to manually get one file with POI from Portugal?
    Thank you

I'm afraid you've to search for the POI file

Most of the time Mr. Google will be your best friend
