Garmin Rino 755 query?

Will shortly be visiting the US from Australia and thouight I might pick up a Garmin Rino 755 while there.
Just wondering what the story is with regard to the radio side of things back in Australia, that is, the radio frequencies are different in Oz compared to the US.
Is it simply a matter of selecting a country in a setup menu on the Rino and it automatically selects the appropriate radio system and frequencies for that country or would I need to change (update) the firmware? Or is it not possible to use a US based Rino in Australia?

I've a pair of 650's bought here in Aus and there is no locality setting.
My understanding is the Garmin frequencies are normally fixed for any local version, look at the threads for the geofenced Astro for example. I couldnt see the 755 as being any different but have never played with one. In the current climate you may not get much help trying to play with newer device firmware. And operating on incorrect frequencies is obviously a serious issue.
Generally its more expensive to include the functionality and problematic in consumer space.
I do have some pro gade Icom marine VHF handhelds that do this but there is clearly a need for maritime travel, they are more expensive and users are less like to make mistakes or abuse e.g. here in Aus need to pass a test to obtain a user licence.
