How to know if a map will work?

Hi, I am a complete Newbie here, I downloaded the City Navigator UK map to my Garmin 1300 onto a SD card. I downloaded the file from an outside site. I'm going to Scotland in 5 days and want to make sure it will work. When I look in my GPS under maps the UK map is checked, but it seems like I can't check to see if the GPS will work in Scotland and I would hate for it not to work once I get over there. My question is: Is there a way I can be sure it will work once I"m over there? Thank you in advance!

If it 's in map list, if you can browse the map, if you can simulate a route, it will work .
