Anybody have new American English (VCT) voices?!
Not TTS, the similarity: English_British_James.vpm and English_British_Kate.vpm
New NUVI don't give a possibility to choose TTS voice which is different with the language in menu...

Are these only compatible with a later model nuvi (and do they normally come with them)?
If so, which models support them?
Works on nuvi 1300. I tried Australian Matilda
The voices are not tts (don't speak street names.)
I downloaded using the new updated My Dashboard.
They appear to be compatible with all modern units, and also some older ones running current fw. I suppose the 'VCT' in the file name is an acknowledgement that these file were made with Voice Creator Tool, maybe? I know very little about this, but i think VCT is a big step-up from VoiceStudio and allows for non-navigation phases to be inserted in the vpm file. Some info:
The 90 day trial seems generous for the Content Toolkit package (GPI Creator & Voice Creator), but 500 bucks to stay with it cools some enthusiasm i'm sure!Code:Please Login or Register to see the links
I can't find any of these new 'VCT' voices other than the 3 already mentioned. Aussie Matilda sounds like a slightly less metalic/less electronic version of Karen, but pronunciation differs somewhat. Maybe it's just Karen's voice processed differently?

Yeah??? (on both counts).
1. Didn't you recently say something like "Catymag is devil in skirt, and she scares the bejesus outta me sometimes!" or words to that effect. So are you now 'crawling' to her so that your thread doesn't end up in 'Siberia' ([Only registered and activated users can see links. ]). Might work. Provoking me in the same sentence is not going to help you unfortunately. 2 recent examples there: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] which both started life elsewhere!
2. Michelle is way, waay, waaay better than Jill who sounds like she's gargling a mouthful of marbles sometimes. However, are you just trying to wind me up by saying Michelle is better than Matilda? Surely you only mean it's a better name, which it is. I have to say that 'matilda' in AU slang means at it's mildest a 'swag', or a bag containing a swag (bedroll) slung over the back of a Swagman (Swaggie for short), a Hobo or Tramp, or at best an itinerant worker.. Hence 'waltzing matilda' (carrying the swag or 'humping the bluey', bush blankets were generally blue). That's the meaning in the song 'Waltzing Matilda' which many people would have heard. Unfortunately, a matilda can also refer to a female of perhaps dubious morals who accompanies a swaggie on his wanderings as his de-facto wife. I'll let you draw your own conclusions as to the naming connection between 'matilda the swag' and 'matilda the missus'. So, although swaggies and their matildas of both types have long disappeared us old blokes remember and it's a bit of laugh that the name has recently made a comeback. I don't know any females over 10 yo named that in Oz.
So why Garmin picked 'Matilda' is beyond me!
But i guess whether you prefer the voice of Michelle (pretty name) over Matilda (joke name) is simply down to personal taste. The Yank voices are all a bit too 'twangy' for my ear, maybe the Aussie ones are too 'nasally' for many. The Brits are maybe a good compromise. IMO the M's are both superior sounding over their Jill and Karen counterparts and it's a great pity they are not TTS. Maybe it will happen.

You can always catch the irony. It is very rare in my country.
I think you can see this on forums. Life is not easy in our area. Even in humorous label on the vodka bottle, Russian users see a threat to their lives. Awful!
I have a feeling of guilt still. Once I let go of a joke in the direction of a moderator on Russian 4Pda forum. Judging by his reaction - he graduated from suicide after this
That is why I look with caution in Matilda side. A little man with a propeller must live![]()

I remember Samantha. She won't work of course on my 1300 but my son has her on his 265W, and to my ear she's not much different from Jill. I absolutely agree that Michelle is superb in comparison to any other American voice, but not just non-TTS.
Well, there is a lot i could say to answer that... but i'll only get us in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] again. I will say this though, Australians generally specialise (yes spellcheck, we spell it with an 's' not a 'z', so get over it already! Ummm...see what i mean) in irony with a side-serve of sarcasm. Often unfortunately very misunderstood by other nationalities, not just Ruskis, and you are rare. You are most welcome as an honourary (there is SO a 'u' in it!) Aussie to come over and play with Schermann & I in our own personal [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. And for the record, i thought your [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] was hilarious. Maybe if you crawl to Caty a bit more she will relent and move those gems into our Siberian sandbox 'coz i've also [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Best i shut up now, i think i just heard a whip *****.....
