Then the question is did he pick the correct speed cams that are unlocked????
And are they placed in the correct place???
And are they turned on???
Apologies if this has been asked before - if I add a more recent safety camera file to the POI folder, do I need to remove the older version?
Al
The newer safety camera file will overwrite the older version.
I downloaded and extracted the latest file and loaded the UKireland .gpi file into the POI folder in my Nuvi 1490.
I've just been out past a fixed camera close to me but the Nuvi didn't appear to pick up the camera.
I had added the same file to the POI folder of the integral Garmin SatNav in my Honda CRV with the same result.
I can see that the file is loaded in both devices.
I wonder if anyone could assist please?
Al
@alfoot,
You had asked about adding new speed cams in post 502
Was it there with the older version of UKireland .gpi??
It is not a perfect some speed cams get missed in updates.
You can also report the missing speed camera's too.
Spoiler: Cyclops reporting website
Make sure you report it to the correct Device/Product area.
@aspirin624, there is a very old Speed Camera .gpi file on the Nuvi 1490 in addition to the new one that I added - it has a different name and is still visible in the POI folder. I don't know if the old file contains the location of the speed camera that I went past
The Honda CRV did not have any Speed Camera .gpi file in its POI folder before I added the new file.
I have filled in the Cyclops form that you provided the link for with the location.
Al
Then you have double speed cams files if you say they have a different names.
You need to delete the old ones see that they have different names then one ones you installed.
Speed cams files will only overwrite the ones with a same exact names.
I always delete old speed cam files and replace them with new ones.
That way you are sure you will not have double entries and possible conflict.
@aspirin624, That is very helpful,
I will remove the old file and see if that fixes it on the Nuvi 1490.
The Garmin Sat Nav in the Honda CRV only has the new file in the POI folder.
Maybe I will drive past a few more different speed cameras in the next few days (at or below the limit.....) to see if I get notifications.

Hello again,
I have done a few journeys now with the Nuvi 1490 with only the most recent UKIreland .gpi file installed in the POI folder - it appears to respond correctly to all of the cameras that I encountered.
I am still having an issue with the integrated Garmin installed in my Honda CRV. I installed the same file in its POI folder and I can see it in the garmdevice.xml file. It also seems to appear in the "device" part of the systems menu as the "Extras/Speed Cameras" entry.
I had both sat navs active on the same journeys but I got no speed camera notifications/bongs from the Honda sat nav.
Is there anything that I need to do to activate the file?
EDIT - I think I found a solution - I did a restore settings on the sat nav and next time when I went out I got camera warnings!! I discovered that a restore needs to be done every time the sat nav is switched off otherwise the speed camera warnings do not appear. Maybe there is a more elegant solution but this works for me!!
