Before thinking about it too much, I posted links to a torrent that makes available a set of USGS topo maps for Alaska in the Garmin section.
I have only used Garmin GPSs for years and did not consider other brands.
Per the user manual, this application is also compatible with Magellan and Lowrance GPSs.
