Hi guys,
By doing investigations to understand why my K706 android car headunit is loosing sound at each cold restart, I found a very weird bug.
The story :
My K706 radio is powered by 2 timer relays :
One to delay the shut down of ACC (because on engine start, this car is cutting the ACC to all media equipments)
And the other to shut down the perm +12v, 2 minutes after ACC cutoff.
I did it for 2 reasons :
- reducing power consumption when the car is stop,
- because I had a K706 with a screen default : a white halo all around the screen was appearing on boot if perm 12v was present during a long time while ACC was off. When perm 12v was cutted, this radio didn't had the issue.
Fact:
At each start, iGo is automatically startup by the headunit, and sound is ok (I test it with the sound key).
But after a short while, iGo sound is completely out. The only solution to get it again is to restart iGo, and then, no more sound fail.
Research:
My first suspicion was the GPS acquisition, because this sound mutting was happening when the GPS is on Fix mode.
But due to my power connection method, the radio is always starting with initial software version date and time 01:00. When GPS is okay, the system time is set to the GPS time (android system settings).
Then, I made a second test : disconnecting GPS and connecting Wifi after system boot. And again : no more sound on iGo.
Conclusion
I redo the experiment on any android systems I have (car radio or smartphone) :
- Disable the network time synchronization in system to be able to change manually the time.
- Start iGo (World or PAL or ISRAEL) with PONGO skin or not.
- Go into system and change the time forward
- Sound on iGo stops.
When time is changed forward 2am -> 2pm : the sound stops often.
When time is changed backward 2pm -> 1pm : the sound stops less often.
I didn't test with LUNA, because too unstable on chineese headunits.
Note : I observed this for sound as audio, no as TTS.
