[Help] Used car with nav, no SD card. Trying to get Primo on it.

Friend of mine bought a used Golf GTI '05 and it had a NAV system in it, but the SD card for the GPS slot was missing. The GPS won't start and it's complaining that there's no SD Card (duhh). And it's trying to find the Primo.exe file. So I assume it's WinCE.

I looked in the forums a bit and downloaded tomtom and HERE maps. I figured since there was no .exe file in there I needed to look for those too. So I found the Alpine version, and the one made for Kia systems.

Additionally I downloaded a recent global_conf.zip and extracted it into the content directory.

I got 2 sd cards. One with the tomtom maps + global_conf + kia .exe. And the other the same but with HERE maps. I'll be testing it at the end of the day.

My question is, since I'm doing this for the first time, is this all I'll be needing ? Am I missing something ? Am I doing something wrong ?

Love to get some advice so I'll be prepared before I test the cards.

Your beginning and assumptions are bad.

Sorry, but you can not "assume it is WinCE"

Look in proper section: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Then find sub section:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Then read and find out what is your system and what do you exactly need
Then, maybe, ask another questions.

Thanks for your reply. I assumed so cause it was looking for an EXE file. I didn't know Android (the alternative) could work with iGO exe files.

Also, the radio is not an original VW model, but some universal 2-DIN system. It was purchased somewhere and put in by someone. There weren't any brands/model no. on it so I thought it must be a china bought system.

Do you have any other advice maybe ? I'd appreciate if you could point me in the right direction. I'm not sure the VW subforum will be useful because it's not a VW system. But I'll definitely take a look.

Every unit have some tags. On it (stickers), in software (about section)...etc.
Find out what is exactly, then we can help you more.

Right, I'll definitely do that once I get access to the system later today. Last time I checked I couldn't find any brand/model/software info. Just a long version number somewhere in the settings. I'll see if I can match it to anything regarding the software.

Ah looks like I wasn't far off.

The Kia version of Primo/iGo didn't work but I found another version that did. The maps and global_conf were all good as well.
