Thanks for the quick response. I am now confused, are you saying that your data.zip has the "poi_mapdistance.bmp", with the"$" and that is why your branding.zip is working and my doesn't?
My data.zip has this bmp file without the "$", I also looked at several other data.zip, from different Primo 2.4 versions and all of them have this bmp file without the "$".
You say "That's very odd as the branding doesn't have that icon in it" but looking at your branding.zip and in your ICONS/POI/ folder you have a bunch of "xxxx.icons" categories files and they all are calling for "$poi_mapdistance.bmp" with the "$".

OK, I just tried copying your Branding.zip, overwriting my igo Primo 2.4's default Branding.zip. I don't get any errors. The POI's have changed from the default blue circles, but they don't show your branded icons, either. They now show, for instance, a bank symbol inside the blue circle indicating where a bank is on the map. Some of the POI circles are now coloured red, whereas before they were all blue.
So in other words some kind of change has occurred that changed how the POI circles look, but not the branding change I was expecting to see any ideas?

@upsss. Forget the $ thingy. i don't know why the file is named that way, but it shouldn't be the problem. Just overwrite the old branding. in your save folder, delete "poi_visibilities.txt"
@canadavenyc. The main icons will have changed. So if you showed bank POIs, you will now see my icons. BUT you have to delete the file as stated above. Also, you have to ENABLE the poi icons. There are only a few default icons turned on such as Canadian tire, Tim Hortons, Shell, Flying J, and a few other american gas stations.
Are you sure it is for sports/recreation? Who or what determines this category/icon? I see more than 20 of these icons in an outdoor mall, doesn't make much sense.
I take it all back, after exiting the program and restarting it, I got the same error again "failed to open file $poi_mapdistance.bmp....".
Before it crashed again I tried to figure out why was I getting 20 icons with a Bicycle in the Mall. It looks like all your icons are screwed up. For "Shopping" you are displaying a Bicycle, for "Accommodation" you are displaying an Airplane, for "Airport" you are displaying a Car, for "Business" you are displaying a Glass of wine, etc. After it crashed again I tried to delete again the "poi_visibilities.txt" as you suggested from the Save folder and I could not find it this time, it looks like it was not recreated (after exiting the program).
I am really sorry but your Branding.zip is not ready yet for any usage.
It has to be the version (2.4). I know the skin I'm using doesn't work on 2.4 either. I've loaded this branding on 4 different units with different versions and it worked no problem, none of which were the 2.4.
I'm going on vacation this week, but when I get back I'll play around with it.
The Primo I am using is version 2.4 specifically 9.6.13.267029 (WinCE 6.0), 800x480 resolution and I am using it without any skin. This Primo is installed on a Chinese car headunit and it has been running flawlessly for about a year.
I have tried another Branding.zip file which seems to work, however it had mostly European icons. So, a good North American Branding.zip is definitely needed here.
