Thread: Mediatek Igo Primo routing error

Hi there,

I have recently bought a 7" screen mediatek gps and have a problem with its routing... when planning routes to other cities in France if i put in a street name and house number i end up with a long horizontal line from East to West showing as part of the route though it looks like an off road stretch.. I have checked to make sure off road is unticked, and I have changed the maos from here to tomtom to see if that makes a difference, but error still persists.

If I put in just the town or an intersecting road it seems to route correctly... any ideas please?

I have taken a copy of the crashtxt file and attached as it seems to be saying there is an error accessing something but that is beyond me at the moment...any help much appreciated. system is running on win ce, primo folder appears to be on an sd card, maps are Here 2020 q4, and have been changed to tomtom 2019 q4 without any affect. no skin, resolution is 800 x 480 according to the sys text, which i attach now.

Crash logs are generic and generally mean nothing smart
The straight line has already been discussed, the device has nothing to do with it. You fit the package badly, and some of your files are bad.

The latest release of 7-zip (open source, small, effective, fast) is quite satisfactory.
What do you mean by that "open files from here correctly"? Unpacking errors are almost impossible if the archive is correct and so is your computer. But, it is possible that the packed files are with an error in themselves.

To eliminate possible content issues:
- put only one map file (fbl). Download it from other source (different uploader) or other provider (Here/TT). For example from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] then from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Test.
- then add the rest of the files, one by one, test after each, (fpa, then fsp, then poi, then buildings)... etc

If you encounter a problem after a few files, try only with that file (next to the map).
- If there is still a problem - that file is defective
- If the problem is lost and reappears after adding a few files, then the problem is in the device.
Either its processor can't handle that amount of data (in fact its cache registers are defective), or the memory chip is messy.


And after all, it is quite possible that your device is not working properly.

I have two WinCE devices, one is quite old and weak, has a KIA clean package (480x272) on it and the other is newer with CIVIC (800x480).
I have no such problems.

Back again great advice thank you... I now seem to have found the file that is causing the straight line issue for me in France, if I remove the French map FPA file it seems to stop the straight line error problem. Only tried it on a few routes that had errors before and it seems fine so far. Can anyone tell me what the FPA file does, and if it is possible to have it checked for errors... I notice I dont have one for the UK maps so im hoping its not a required file.. thanks for any info on fpa file...and hope this helps anyone else who gets the off road/straight line across map routing error....

In principle, this file is useful.
I already mentioned to you - try downloading that file from another host. Or try maps from another provider.
If the problem persists, then you can live without it

Thank you for your reply, I'm very grateful for the help provided on this forum, however I have asked a question about what the FPA file actually does and if it can be checked for errors (which I would happily try if it is possible) and whilst the document you refer too does say it is point addressing, that is not an answer that is merely a description, so perhaps I am not the only one who is lazy I have not asked the same question, you just havent read it properly However for anyone who is having a similar problem please see below for a bit more info...

Generally, your device uses point addressing (door-to-door navigation) to ensure greater accuracy. In some cases, though, your device may be using logical addressing.

Logical Addressing

For example, if a stretch of road is known to contain house numbers from 100-199, the placement of addresses along that road is interpolated. This means that 150 would be placed in the middle of the stretch of road, even though it may be located some distance from the centre since addresses are not always spaced evenly.

Point addressing

Premium map feature where addresses are given a precise location, which provides a much greater arrival accuracy.

I have tried the FPA files from the links supplied, so will now look for different ones to try... so if anyone has an FPA file from a working French map, compataible with Igo Primo, that they have used in France without a problem, please can you share? In the meantime I will carry on looking and updating for those who might be having a similar problem
