Primo and Speed Limits

I live in a residential area where the speed limit is 30kph.
I have the tick box checked, but Primo does not display the limit, nor does it give overspeed warnings.
When I leave the residential area the speed limit shows as 50kph (correct), and warnings start.
When I create a route and run the simulation it starts at 30kph until adjoining roads are reached.
So the problem is that the local speed limit is not displayed, althgough the map knows what the limit is.
(A tomtom system appeared to have a similar problem.)
Is there a way to resolve this problem (by modifying an ini file, or even an hex editor hack if required)?

It is likely that the map maker has not added speed information for that area in the map. It is not unusual to have many streets not showing speed information

At the fourth line above I indicated that the simulation runs at 30kph in the area. I think it follows that the speed limit is in the map.

The fact that simulation runs at 30kph doesn't absolutely guarantee that it's taken the speed from map. Here in the U.S. there are many "side streets" that doesn't have speed limits.

I am not sure that I would agree. If not taken from the map, then from where? And why only to the end of the road?
Perhaps I should add that the reduced limit is recent, but I do not recall noticing the problem in the past; before the reduction.
I do not take the failure to report and display as being correct behaviour; but rather as an error. Which is why I was wondering how it might be rectified. Is there a setting that ignores low speed limits, and how can it be changed?

Simulation speed is set to "low value" when there is no speed from map (it ain't going to set to high value for sure!!!) You can see this when simulating on "side street", "entering and exiting" highways and loop turn from highway. Perhaps you can get that "old" maps to see if problem occurred at same location. You're welcome to report the "error" to NNG or map maker.

Agree with others - if the speed limit isn't displayed, then the speed limit information isn't in the map... If the speed limit was in the map, it would show up - it's really that simple.

In my own experience even though the speed limit on my road is 60 Km/h it does not alter the simulation speed which always starts at 45Km/h whether I have a valid GPS signal or not. So it seems that iGO chooses this speed itself and it is always a fair bit below the current speed limit. If the speed limit increases so does the simulation speed, but its always less than the speed limit. If there is no speed limit I'm not sure what happens but I suspect iGO would default to its lowest simulation speed. I guess only NNG knows why.

I do know that iGo "categorizes" roads to aid in the routing (so it knows which route to take to get you there the fastest) - especially for roads that have no speed limits in the maps. So it's possible that the simulation speed is based on the road "category" (for example, "residential", "highway", etc)...

NNG's map has "category" for roads, this is how it knows to draw it with different widths and colors. Whether it uses or not for speed in simulation is another story.
