i would like to ask the step by step how to update garmin map, i've read so many tutorial here but none describe the good process from beginning to end

i have garmin nuvi 310 with garmap african series 2008 southern african and i would like to update with 2012 map, and i preciated if someone can do like below

1. download new map example "garmap african series 2012 southern african street map 1rst edition" (this is and exe file.. open using winrar and extract to a folder)
2. download mapsource + patch (install mapsource first then replace with patch)
3. download mapinstall + patch (install mapsource first then replace with patch)

7. done.. your garmin map now update with 2012 map

if all the step by step is available then i can start looking for other tutorial for example if having some trouble or need to unlock things etc
