I think EU devices shows current road already, probably US versions don't. My 34xx shows it.
Users can test in simulation too:if you simulate , then suddenly stop it, before getting GPS OFF you can read for a while "Driving on xxxx Street".
Garmin GPS 2012 models (3400, 3500, 25x5, 24x5 US series) - only in the version for the Americas - has a limitation irritating to many: does not show the name of the street where you pass, only the name of the side streets that we will find ahead.
The solution is very simple: just Clean User Data in Diagnost Page, choose a European country (Luxemburg among others) and your language. It is simple as that.
Below the step by step for users less acquainted:
1. from the home page of the gps, enter in the Volume page, press and hold the upper-right corner of the screen to enter in the "Diagnostic Page"
2. click on "Clear All User Data", but before backup your data if necessary (read note below).
3. gps restarts and requested the name of the country. Select "Luxemburg and press OK.
4. following appears "Select Language", select "Other"/OK/your language/OK.
5. Change in Settings, the language of the keyboard, if applicable.
6. Ended procedures is necessary to tune patiently satellites, time-consuming process because the system thinks are in Luxembourg ..
Then test on the move on the street and everything will work perfectly.
* Backup your data:
Use Basecamp or Mapsource for this.
** should be functional with all families of 2012 firmware already mentioned. It also works in "Pedestrian mode"

You have to navigate to get to the good.

Cnfhbr, yes the feature is present in Luxembourg and other European countries and it seems that has a direct relation with the ability to show the name of the streets. In my initial tests only a few European countries enabled the street view: Luxembourg, Danmark, Deuschland, Belgie, Nederland ... After information of Catymag I tested again with other European countries and they all accepted the resource and also beep alert of velocity is presented, I do not know if this function has been automatically fixed or if it was my observation fault. The undeniable fact is that all the firmwares of Garmin's Nuvis 2012 to the Americas had no such resources. I would like to know how it is in your country in relation to these two features.
For me it was a novelty to know that the choice of certain countries can enable new features on the same firmware. It was through your tip that I ended up realizing that advantage, tks! The only explanation I have for the issue not to have been raised before is that most readers of the forum are European and already had the feature enabled on your gps.

Can Confirm That Audible Speed Alerts is added to "Map & Vehicle" Menu in South African 3490 when region is set to UK.
Good Job Angelo.

There are more changes depending on locale settings. This could be access to "autozoom off" in menus, shape of speed limit sign, upper toolbar color (green or blue).
On which 2012/2013 Nuvi models "non EU" does this work to enable "Audible Speed Alerts" ??
I did a trial run on audible speed alerts this morning and it works very well.
It gives you like a triple beep.
(It's a pity that you cannot set it to +5 etc etc)

Dasilvarsa,
In all my testing with gps and firmwares always tried to observe how and what enabled the Street View in models mentioned in post 1. Maybe even that I had not noticed the use of "Speed Audible Alerts" if it were not for the collaboration of you. The fact is that in my remarks has always appeared the two features together and gps seem to have no difference in hardware or software in relation to Europeans, changing only the local configurations.
I can safely say that the features can be enabled in nuvis 2012 mentioned in post 1, ie, 3400, 3500, 2405 and 2505 and probably others that use the same family firmware.
The Street View feature also works with nuvis 2010/11 of 3700 and possibly others with the same family firmware (2400, 2500), but the feature "Speed Audible Alerts" does not appear in these models, at least I could not locate it (tested in two 3790). In relation to the series 2013 (25x7, 35x7 ..) I do not have any information yet ..

My US 3597 works fine with UK, Belgium or Luxemburg as Locale after reset, then followed by AU chosen via 'Change Locale' in diagnosics page>developer info. Overspeed and street name np and importantly ASR work as it should. On my 2012 devices, i had ASR problems with UK, Belium, Luxemburg etc as locate after reset although street name & overspeed ok. It may have been because there was no EU map on the unit, I don't really know. I'll do some investigation to check, but i do know that ASR works again when AU is reselected on a 34/3590 having the AU map on board. I think it must be to do with the 3597 having the secondary choice for locate whereas the 3490 & 3590 do not. It's been quite some time since i tried with the 2012 devices and i have actually only very recently become aware that these features are not well-known by others outside of EU countries.
