    Default Multiple maps on SD Card

    To use multiple maps on an SD card for the Garmin. Join all the maps together using the GMap tool.
    Place the joined file in the Garmin directory on SD card as gmapsupp.img, enter the SD card 25 digit code into the gmapsupp.unl file. In your garmin unit go to setup, maps, info all the maps will be listed simply select the maps you want.

    What if maps also have multiple codes? Can we put more than one code in the .unl file?

    Yes, you just put it next to the first code, no space, you can put as many as you need, the only problem is that I think Garmin can't handle if the file is larger then 2GB.

    So guess calling the second map image gmapsupp2.img will not work? I read somewhere else that this works on some Garmin models.
    Also, what would one do if the combined IMG file is bigger than 2GB?

    One more question, how would you find the SD Card number/ID on a Zumo 550?

    Assuming you are refering to a Garmin device, you can use the internal memory to copy two maps, one named gmapprom & the other gmapsupp. You can use your SD to copy two more files one named gmapsupp & the other gmapsup2 not gmapsupp2 Garmin won't recognize it. If you want more info about mapset naming you can find an interesting mapset naming guide here: (link removed)

    Your second question about Zumo 550, i don't know why do you need CardID but if you are in the process of creating unl file for your map/s, you probably need the UnitID code.

    On my Nuvi 255W the second map on SD card worked only with the name gmapsup1, not gmapsup2, so anyone interested could try this name also.
    Thanks however for the tip on naming the map gmapsup with just one p at the end, because all other variants failed.

    @vasile72
    Santosan's post you quoted was made almost 2 years ago, and was not applicable for your Nuvi 255W at the time which then would support only one map named gmapsupp.img in the Garmin folder of the sd.

    A recent fw upgade to your 255W has enabled a second map for sd, which must be named only gmapsup1.img as you have found.
