Better to just use Garmin Express to update the Garmin DriveSmart 55 or any other Garmin GPS Unit.

I have never done it any other way.

I have many Garmin units and they all work with no problems at all.

With GarminExpress it is not possible, to downgrade the firmware to a older firmware version. But exactly this is my intention. Because the last Firmware 8.7 can not establish a proper bluetooth connection with smartfon. Older firmware works fine. But 8.7 is bullsh...
Any idee , how to proced this ?

Did you report this to Garmin??

Before you do any downgrade and wind up bricking your Garmin just like many others here because you did something wrong.

It is not the end of the world not have access to your Smartphone.
The unit will work with not problems at all.

will you be able to upload the files in somewhere ,where The Chinese is not the only option? I have a bricked DriveSmart 55,which does not boot past the Garmin logo.
I found a boot menu with the SD card update recovery ,but I have no update file.Not able to connect the unit to PC,no pre-boot mode or "Erase all data" options.

Give a link to the firmware file you used to update if it was non-standard/patched, or state the version if it was an official release and importantly how you updated (ie via GarminExpress or WebUpdater, in preboot using Updater.exe, etc.).
