Did you see this in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]?: "Firmware ['unit software'] has been factory loaded to your brand new device so there is NO gupdate.gcd present". That file is only present in .System if there's been an update for fw with GarminExpress or WebUpdater, or you place it there manually, to update the fw.
As i said too "These differently named .gcd files starting with '006' are not used to update the main unit software [firmware], they are for other minor uses and most have only one component BIN file. Don't mess with them."
I also gave you the direct Garmin links in Post #220 for both HWIDs V8.30. If your device already has V8.30, there is no need to update it of course. Your 2589 has the C4 chip HWID 1947. Here's the link again:
Open B1947000M.GCD in RGN_Tool and press 'Save' in the first section to get boot.bin. Rename it Ldr.bin to use with the text command as said.Code:Please Login or Register to see the links
If you still have problems understanding what to do, just extract the RAR file behind the Spoiler below onto a CLEAN mircoSD card, ensure your unit is fully OFF, insert the card, power it on and wait for it to finish [it'll boot when it has finished copying region 154]. In root of the card you'll find a file named '154_backup.bin' which is your NV backup.
