Hi friend, I saw the GARMIN Logo in the GIR Editor and it's in the format
"PNG 800 x 480 x 32" ...
This should be achievable using GIR_Editor however read the disclaimer*. If you are happy with the appearance of the image below, download the attached ZIP file then read on:
Spoiler: BMW Image & File
- Go back to the card you used to dump region 16 and replace the contents of Update.txt with this:
Code:rrgn,154,2:/154_backup.bin
xrgn,16,2:/16_backup.bin
reboot
- Remove any file named "last_id.bin" from 2436 folder.
- Extract 800x480x32.zip file somewhere convenient to obtain 800x480x32.png.
- Move the 16_backup.bin from the card and make a copy of it, work only with that copy and keep the original safe somewhere.
- Open the copied BIN file in GIR_Editor. Double click the blue line "0-PNG 800 x 480 x 32" to open a new window then click browse to locate 800x480x32.png. Pressing OK will save the BMW image into the BIN file.
- Place the 16_backup.bin file that you amended with the BMW image back into the root of the microSD.
- Ensure the zumo is completely OFF, not just in standby. Insert the card and turn on the device. If the battery is low or unreliable connect to a suitable external 5V power source to power it on (don't use a PC usb port to power it on).
When it finishes flashing and reboots it should show the BMW image on the splash screen. There will be a new file named "154_backup.bin" in the card root. Keep it safe, it's a copy of the device's non-volatile memory before the new logo bin was flashed.
* I take no further responsibility if you choose to follow the above suggestions. You assume all risk however the worst that is likely to happen is the zumo will boot without a splash screen and you'll need to flash back the original BIN file.
Hi, unfortunately I do not know where to adjust the image for the same size, could you advise me ???
I'm unsure why you think there's a need to do that. The image file i supplied in the ZIP file matches the properties you reported for your existing Garmin PNG image - 800x480x32:
Spoiler:
The user wanted a bmw LOGO  I have a feeling he wants to process his image.
@Petrberki - this Forum is not intended to educate users in the use of computers and software. You should try a little harder.
Hi Butters, unfortunately I can't download your zip file ... I click on Spoiler: BMW Image & File Show and nothing downloads ...
@Boki_Srb, of course it's not an educational forum, I've been living IT for 30 years, only this area is unknown to me ... Well, what is the tedey forum for ???? In my opinion, the next time someone else reads the procedure how to do everything I want step by step and not write unnecessarily spam about how to learn everything yourself ??? What do you think, am I right or am I wrong ???
Butters, can you please advise me how and where to edit the logo and how I know why I don't save "154_backup.bin" ... Thank you
The spoiler in Post #142 hides a sample representation of the BMW image (a picture only to show you what it looks like) and also a hyperlink to a downloadable ZIP file which is attached on the forum's server. Here's the link to the ZIP directly without the hyperlink naming: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...].Quote:

Again i'm having some difficulty understanding the above. I'm aware English is probably your second language however the exact steps are in P#142. Say what in detail you're wanting more assistance in doing, i.e. are you wanting more help with the steps changing the logo FILE (the BIN) from Garmin to BMW, or as the moderator Boki_Srb feels, do you want to further process the BMW logo IMAGE (the PNG) prior to saving it into the logo file?Quote:

Regarding: how I know why I don't save "154_backup.bin" .... Do you mean the BIN file isn't being saved when you try to dump the non-volatile memory or do you mean something else?
"154_backup.bin" .... I mean, the BIN file won't be saved ... Unfortunately, English is my weak language .. I'm sorry ...
It's ok, EN is my first language and sometimes i do struggle with it (even when sober) ;).
Post the contents of "Update.log" file which will have been created in 2436 folder. Also be aware that if "last_id.bin" is left in that folder the Update.txt file will be ignored.
"154_backup.bin" I already have, now I have a problem with the logo ... at startup I will only see a white square with a blue inscription "GIR LOW MEM!
