This FW is also compatible with EU or not?
What language is available when you install this FW?
Checked it today and it's still working like a charm showing map ver 2012.40
Went for a ride, a little nippy today but got home and tried ever thing again and lost my POI search keyboard was grayed out but ever thing else still works without rebooting. Trying to figure out why I lost it.

Hi Loly,
Are you interested in this fw for the same reason in my [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]? I don't have a Goldwing and maybe one of the owners posting here will correct this, but afaik, this is NA issued firmware and was packaged with the CNNTNA 2011.10 map on a CF card when originally issued by Garmin. Probably any country NT maps will work with it. The GW units '06-'08 originally did not read NT maps but the 4.50 & 4.60 fw somehow enables that, and whether by unlocking that ability on the hardware or by unencrypting the NT maps via the fw to allow the unit to read the map data is the big question.
It seems the older fw supported both EN & FR, but the new 4.60 may support only EN however i am unable to confirm that. Whether any other language is able to be added is unknown to me.
It would be great if you could determine how this fw works and see if it could be somehow used to enable reading of NT maps in other older non-NT units! The later GW units using an SD card ('09 onwards) already have the ability to read NT maps.

@Neil
Some friends have this gps and he ask me if i know if work on EU.
I will explore FW and try to find out.
I believe some of the recent units sold outside of US are still the older 'CF card' units (Non-NT). If they have any trouble loading the fw, a reset may be required, and this is what i read elsewhere for CA & AU units, maybe the same for EU Navi if using CF:
Good luck exploring! Cheers.If the instructions from Garmin will not update your NAVI CF carded unit, then there are some further steps that you can take. These steps are best accomplished by two people.
1. Remove the screws from the trunk unit, so that you can open up the plastic cover. There are four screws holding the plastic cover to the trunk front wall, and for the two lower ones you will need a shorter screwdriver (Philips head)
2. Open the plastic cover to expose the NAVI unit. Look closely at the top edge of the unit, to find a tiny hole. This is the reset, and it needs an object the size of a paper clip to press it.
3. Partially insert the CF card with the update on it into the slot in the GPS unit, but do not press it home. Using a paper clip or like item, test press the reset button so you can see what pressure it takes – not much.
4. While pressing the reset button, have someone turn the ignition switch to ACC position, and read what the display says. It should say “holding”. At this time, while continuing to hold the reset button in, finish inserting the CF card with the update on it.
5. The display should go to “loader” and then to “updating from card”. At this time, you can release the reset button, and allow the unit to update.
6. Turn the ignition to the off position.

hi
Could any body help with a problem i have a 2008 goldwing navi and need european software version 2.20 gupdate
any ideas?
thanks
Does anyone know of a way to revert back to version 2.20 european software?
I was about to suggest you post a request in one of the EU bike forums. Thought i'd have a poke around and came across this:
Seems a heck of a coincidence so i guess it may actually be you asking there too. If not, keep an eye on it to see what comes up there if nobody has it here.Code:Please Login or Register to see the links
You may have to reset the unit and then try loading the EU 2.20 fw normally on an otherwise empty cf. Although if lolypop000 reports back favourably on the compatibility of the US 4.60 fw with EU units you may be able to use that. See posts 26-29. Good luck.

Greetings from Singapore I have done all mentioned steps to do the upgrade. However the gps is unable to detect the card that I have inserted. I have tried 3 different cards and have waited almost 20 mins for changes to appear. Nothing so far.. what could be the problem? help needed!!
@Black Bird Kathi
You may have to reset the unit as described in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. However, it may not be wise to load this US Firmware on to a non-US unit without first getting some local expert advise as to its suitability. Read this entire thread as well. In deno2bike's first post before he edited it he had this:
Maybe he's in the UK and the later NT capable US fw just doesn't handle the 'Drive on the Left' road system there.
@lolypop000
Have you had any success investigating the US 4.60 to see how it handles the non-NT to NT conversion? Also, going by the names of the fw files for eu(?)2.20 & 2.30, there seems to be some relationship to the nuvi 350 & 360 line. But they were NT capable anyway? Does your friend's eu unit read NT maps and what fw is it running? This non-NT to NT conversion has got me fascinated as to how it works in the US 'Wings.

Hi
If you Update Goldwing Navi 2006-2008 C.F.Type to Firmware V.4.60 You Will Have Problems!!!!!! (DON'T Do It Is My ADVICE)
Yes it does allow you to use NT mapping but the European models are not Compatible!
If you have a U.S spec bike it does work But You Will Not Be Happy!!A lot of Problems!!
My advice would be to leave well alone!!
I hope this helps,if you need any further advice please contact me
