Steps used to access pre-boot
3. turn off the gps by press power button ~7 sec
4. turn back on, while the garmin logo is showing, put your finger on top of "RM" area, when you should see the word "system" flashing, plug in your USB cable right away, now the updater should recognize the device. But make sure you click OK fast enough, before the "system" went away. I've been trying this whole day, finally figure out....

Where did you find the firmware file?
I accidentally formated nuvi 1350 and now its not detected by PC. I have back up of the files in the gps.
I want to try GarminCure 3 but i need the firmware file. HELP!!!

You can find firmware here:

Code:

---

http://gawisp.com/perry/nuvi/

---

But be sure to flash the right HWID firmware or you can brick it forever
There are two firmware versions for 13XX:

Code:

---

http://gawisp.com/perry/nuvi/nuvi13xxand14xxseries_GCDFile__630.gcd

---

or

Read point #3, or if you have garmindevice.xml in your backup point#1.

Hi
have a Garmin 2599.
it worked to see the Nuvi finally in updater.exe. but for very short time.
then when I clicked on "OK" a popup appears saying:
"The Garmin device is not responding. please ensure following and try again:
1. The Garmin device's Interface option is set to Garmin or Host mode
2. the cable is connected to the correct serial port
3. the GARMIN device is turned on."

updater.exe is started as admin and under compatibility mode xp sp3.
any ideas?
during map update cancelled the device started the boot loop...

thanks all

Answered you over here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]. Best not to cross-post, creates confusion sometimes. ;)

Hi! Please help - how to enter pre-boot mode on nuvi 3597?

With the device fully OFF (not in standby) power it on and place your left thumb on and over the G in 'GARMIN' immediately it appears on the screen. If you get the timing right you'll see 'Loader' appear in the upper part of the screen. You may have to try a few times, placement and timing is critical.

Nothing =(

I have do it! Thank you!
And another question: i have custom boot splash screen and i want to change it to original GARMIN splash logo...how i can do it? I have re-flash firmware but splash not changed (( How change splash boot to original?

Then you weren't doing it right. It is tricky but I have an NA 3597 and it works in mine however often needs a couple of tries. It's essential that after any failed attempt to ensure you force the device fully off by holding the power button in until you see the option screen to turn it off, also finding the exact place to press the screen is crucial:

PS: To reflash region 16 it's much easier to use the SD method with xrgn write command then no preboot is required.
