Nuvi waits for about 30 seconds in pre-boot mode, if you don't start flashing in this time, it goes to calibration procedure.
Read again how to do in Updater thread
You must first install garmin usb drivers and you must have open updater.exe to see when your nuvi will be recognized.
Try with holding uper left corner ( updater will see your nuvi only 10 second ).
How can we do it for Zumo 660?
Thanks

I have a Nuvi 1350 that I can't get to recognize in USB mode.
Where do I get updater.exe and a good firmware file to load to it. Preferably, I'd like to restore it to factory state.
Thanks!

My unit isn't bricked. Everything works except it won't be seen by my PC to do updates.
(I have 4 units, all with this problem, one is pin locked and I don't know the pin my sister used and she doesn't remember it, and lost all paperwork in Sandy when her house was washed away, one has a white screen, and the last one works but won't charge or access usb.)
I can't get into any diagnostic screen that lets me turn on the mass storage option instead of auto detect, and using updater.exe says that there are no updates for my unit. I think the firmware is corrupt and I want to wipe the unit and reload it with the factory load. But, can't get into USB mode to even start.
Have you got Garmin USB drivers loaded? [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] and [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...].Quote:

I assume that's the one you've posted about here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...].Quote:

OK, so I couldn't get any of the fixes to work, couldn't even get my unit to be recognized by my PC. But I left it plugged in to a charger for a couple of weeks - AND IT CAME BACK TO ITS FULLY NORMAL & OPERATIONS STATE. There is no rational explanation for this I can imagine - other that just dumb luck.
