Satellite signal quality and accuracy would not apply to the "jump" problem in this case as the problem seems to occur in simulation mode.
It's more likely the "magnetic" snap to road positioning that gives circular events between routing and simulated satellite positioning calculation. Often seen in roundabouts and city streets with multiple junctions where the automatic zoom also affects visual feedback of the problem.
Gradually getting there. Voice Command working now (though several menu options are listed but not available with my language files limiting usefulness).
After conversion 3790 to 3490 should there be a \SID folder in .system?
My G2S (Traffic Trends) folder is now empty and I have no SID folder.
MyGarmin tells me a software update is available but as my registration details refer to 3790 model. I'm not sure whether it is offering updates for the 37xx or for the 34xx. Can anyone clarify.
Webupdater shows some 34xx updates but only language files (that I don't need).
You must create SID folder in .System and put there *.sid files.Quote:

My Garmin doesn't know that you updated to 34xx. Mygarmin dashboard identifying your device by UnitID. Because UnitID is the same it identifies device as 3790.
Webupdater reads GarminDevice.xml and here info is changed. Know Webupdater identifies it as 3490.
P.S. If you have LMT for your 3790 you will get updates for "new" 3490. These updates will be as for 3490, not 3790. You'll get sid,asr and other files required for 3490.
Thanks for that.
"You must create SID folder in .System and put there *.sid files." - Where to find SID files? I assume they vary for different country maps?
All files for 34xx unit (CNE 2012.30) are here:Quote:

Thanks. Looking for CN Australia & New Zealand 2012.30 SID related files.
......You'll get sid,asr and other files required for 3490.
tried redownloading maps earlier but no new files appeared. ASR came via webupdater after enabling voice command. Maybe no SID for Aus.?
Interesting. I was sure ASR files are available only with map update (not webupdater). Via webupdater you usually get only language files for ASR.Quote:

It's possible there are no SID files for latest Aus.
I don't how you tried get map updates, but if you have LMT and you are updating maps using Garmin Life Updater, you must delete your "old" 3790 from GLU device list and add your "new" device. Only in this case you will get updates as for 3490. If you didn't delete your 3790 device from GLU, map updates you will get for 3790.
