Thread: How to use alternative firmware for 24xx/25xx (Asian units)

Nuvi 2575TH / 2575Sg/My / 2565TWN / 2555TWN / all have hwid 1352.
Nuvi 2465Sg/My / 2465TWN / 2455TWN / 2465TH all have hwid 1327.

It seems easy to use alternative firmware for these units but not.
I will give information that 2575TH flashed with 2575Sg/My firmware but can not use Sg/My JCV. !!
2575TH with Sg/My firmware still show Thai JCV and not for Sg/My JCV.

2575Sg/My flashed with original non modified Thai firmware can not show thai JCV.

This maybe a useful info for someone who want to buy 24xx/25xx to use alternative firmware.

So all these 2xxx can't show TH JCV? That sucks. Hope you guys modder figure out how to hack it soon enough!

Nuvi 2465Sg/My / 2465TWN / 2455TWN / 2465TH all have hwid 1327.
I got 2465TH and flashed with 2465Sg/My & 23xxUS firmware by 4 methods. (We don't have 2465TH firmware till now.)

1). Flashed Nuvi2465TH with original 2465Sg/My (both boot&fw_all) directly
result :: Still be Thai region --> can not display Malaysia JCV.., (still show Thai JCV)

2). Flashed with modified 2465Sg/My firmware(both boot&fw_all) (changed hwid to other number)
Result :: hwid changed , can open Nuvi normally ., It seems work fine.., can not display Malaysia JCV.., (still show Thai JCV)
But boot = Fail (Inventory page) then I went back to 2465TH.

3). Flashed with 23xxUS firmware (whole file 23xxUSboot & 23xxUSfw_all) (changed hwid both boot&fw_all to 1327 same as 2465TH)
result :: can open Nuvi normally ., It seems work fine with US features But boot = Fail (Inventory page) then I went back to 2465TH.

4). Flashed with 23xxUS firmware (2465sgmy boot hwid1327 + 23xxUS fw_all overrided hwid to 1327)
result :: can open Nuvi normally ., It works fine with US features and all pass on inventory page.

We need original device for dump...

Hi, you need the dump? How can I do it for you?

I believe there will not a clue on "how to dump" sharing, anyway just looking for a full 2300 series dump.

it's good and more safe for converting for 2Xxx series to have Asian features.

We can just flash the firmware without modification (except convert cgd->rgn). 23xx is likely 24xx in Asia as well as the 24xx alike 25xx series (not for the TV version).

Feature enabled by region 140 is already explained.

The only thing left is the JCV localization which can be done by xml.

Really there is no difference between series 2xx0 and 2xx5? For example is there support for active mount in 2xx5 nuvis and their firmware?
