Well I've got NUVI350 LMT. Went to install the new maps yesterday and it failed. Now when I plug in the GPS to my computer(WIN7 64bit) it boots, I see the Garmin screen. The little green loading bar goes about 1mm then the system reboots completely.
I was able to get the information G7Towin NUVI 13xx series software version 5.40. ID972
However I cant see it as a mass storage device. I can't seem to get it stay in the pre-boot mode. When I hold the top left screen during power up I see a quick 1 or 2 second white screen which appears to be the screen calibration but it goes away before I can identify it.
Do I need to send this in to get it fixed or is there something I can do here to rectify the situation?
Really kind of annoying. It told me to update the firmware then the maps, now I'm stuck with a GPS that just cycles on, 'crashes',reboots then crashes.
Can anyone send me some advice?
should the pre-boot mode hang there? I can't seem to get the computer to see the GPS as a device.
Install Garmin USB drivers first and run updater.exe!
1.Turn off the device
2. Hold center of screen, or left top
3. Connect usb
4. Dont release screen, before starting flash pocess
ok maybe I need to be a little more specific here..
I have a Nuvi 1350 LMT
Yesterday I updated the firmware via lifetime updater to 5.40
It told me I had new maps available as well so I downloaded them.
I began the install but it didn't finish off my laptop and I had to leave. When I got home later I tried to finish the install.
The computer no longer sees the device.
When it first boots up and loads the map on a working machine you see a long green bar that slowly fills. Now I get a 1mm green bar and system completely resets.
Holding the left corner during boot up or the center has no effect. The garmin just keeps cycling itself over and over.
When i try updater I get no update files could be found please re-run updater from command line specifying ........
So i command line the updater files which are in a specific directly and it still tells me cannot find update files.
What am I doing wrong here? The factory software can no longer find the device and the updater.exe cant find any files.
You interrupted the install of the map on your device, thus rendering the map corrupt. Since the map is corrupt the firmware is stuck attempting to load the map. Since the firmware cannot load the map, it bootloops and keeps trying to load the map endlessly.
Not listening to aekhong is what you're doing wrong, since he gave the correct answer. You need to load a version of the firmware customized to ignore the IMG (map) file so that you can regain access to the device and delete the corrupt map. Once you delete the corrupt map and install the standard version of the firmware, you should regain access to the device so you can properly load the map.
Never interrupt the map install...so don't attempt to do the install at work.
Ok that makes sense. Are there premade firmwares that do this o do I need to hexedit like the repair thread shows? I also assume that There will be nothing on a gps to show me I am in pre boot mode? Also can you explain why the updater dot e x e is not finding any update files
Deleted. Wrong post.
Read post of aekhong.
ok got the reflash done. Now the see the usb connection symbol on the unit. Now for the updating of the map.
I appreciate all the help guys. If you were all near me I'd take you all out for a beer.
Now to try and install the new map.
