But I can get neither to install running under W7. I have tried in a couple of directories, but when I click on the "install.bat" file, I go into DOS, and under "Adding registry keys" come up with ERROR: access is denied

However, I was able to correctly "install" the new Australia/NZ 2010.30 successfully (after unrar-ing it to c/program data/garmin/maps).

    Any advice welcome.

I am also aware I can install the respective .img files into Mapsource, but would prefer not to to lose the functionality that entails, if possible.
    Hi,

In Window 7 You have to turn of UAC (User Access Control) or run "install.bat" as Administrator - right click on .bat or .reg file and select "Run as administrator".
To turn off UAC go to help, type in "User Access Control", select "Turn User Account Control on or off" and follow instructions.

When installing new full MapSource map with Setup.exe or .msi it is good thing to boot Windows 7 with option "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" by pressing F8 on system boot, because MapSource installs drivers for Garmin devices and sometimes it becomes "Never ending story" on Windows 7 if this option is not selected (too many questions, long time between them and sometimes never ends).

You could use in MapSource maps generated from .img files, but do not transfer them back to .img files from MapSource, rather use original .img files. If needed to merge them with other maps use this guide:

Thanks MB - that solved the problem.

All I need now is the new version of Mapsource (post 6.15.11) which doesn't devour all my RAM when zooming to different levels.

That's main reason for using MS 6.15.7, but this version is not fully compatible with new CN versions and there are also some general memory leaking problems in Windows 7, hopefully will be solved in near future.

I suppose this is because of the limited RAM processing memory.
Let the GPS fix ends before browsing the map.
if you browse the Map or uses the New Location while the GPS is trying to process satellites data, Garmin freezes.
S60v5 Nokia phones have this bug not Omnia hd coz is more powerful

During extracting I see that during processing Disk.cab it goes wrong. The message is:
'CRC failed in Topomap Benelux (Dutch version)\Disk.cab. The file is corrupt'
I am not doing separate unrar actions on this file.
    Thanks, Hans
