OSM Map vs. Garmin Map

What is the main difference between this two version of maps? What is your preference?

OSM Map are for most part used for biking and hiking off road and on trail paths.
They can be used for your auto but you would need a free routable version.
Which is so so in my opinion for that use.
Garmin does make TOPO maps too most OSM and TOPO are made for Handheld units.

The other maps Garmin has are for car use on a dashboard mount driving.
You can use both maps on Handhelds and Auto version GPS units.

If you are going to do any hiking or mountain biking OSM are your best bet on a Handheld unit.
They last from 15 to 25 hours in the field.

A Garmin Auto GPS if you are lucky one hour with out power in the field.
They are not waterproof and you do not want to drop them while on a bike or hiking.

The bottom line here is it all depends on what you plan to do with the maps.
Drive in the city or walk in the woods......

Seeing that you have posted you have a drivesmart 61 in the field not a good idea to do.
OSM do work on that Garmin GPS but stick with the city maps seeing that drivesmart 61 comes with life time maps of Europe.
