1) you must deselect one of the 2 maps (new or old) in maps list or nuvi will show only one of them or it will have problems, you cant use two routable maps covering the same area at a time.
2) yes
Q1) all right I bit the bullet and bought a micro sd card for garmin. I got the old set of maps on the garmin machine and a newer set on the micro card (both for north America)
Will garmin default to the newer mapset if I got the micro sd card with newer map plugged in, and default to older map in machine if micro card isn't plugged in automatically?
Q2) on micro sd card I got the gmap3d.img for Europe maps, can I rename this to Europe3d.img if I wanted to to match Europe.img map I got in there, or it doesn't really matter?

You have to navigate to get to the good.
Galaxy S5 Kitkat 4.4.2 / Nuvi1200->1250 / Nuvi3790T->34xx / Nuvi 2200 / Nuvi 66 / Oregon 600
