Go to [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and hit the "CTpaHbI" (=foreign) in line 6. This wil lead you to a page with a lot of interesting maps, including Syria, Cuba and even more exotic countries. gis-lab.info is a russian OSM-project-site, the maps are updated regulary and are not so bad
