Winrar worked great and I got as far as splitting the .img file to "Create: mapsets by FID" but instead of them coming up as "FID" they came up as "FAM". Then when I went to split for MapSource and clicked on the install icon in DOS it says something about missing mapset file and then aborts. What am I doing wrong?

Got it: FAM = FID. But when I split FAM_2120.img and then double click the install.bat and press enter for it to install I get this error message in DOS: "cgpsmapper is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. File missing: mapset.img, aborting install." What do I do?

that "FAM" is Family ID = FID, you'll find imgs splitted by ID in your folder-
To have them in Mapsource drag themin GMapTool one by one and split them separately ,one by one.
    follow instructions here

    Tested now and works fine

File missing: mapset.img ==> Do you already get mapset.img ?

I don't think so? After I split FAM_2120.img these are the only files that show up with the name mapset: mapset.mdx, mapset.mp, mapset.tdb. Is mapset.img supposed to show up some where else or in a different step?

    You need mapset.img for installing.
Make sure you already set as this pic.
    You need cgpsmapper.

Woohoo! It works!! I've been working at this on four different days up to today using my Mac to download the programs and then using my crappy 64bit HP to do all the hard work. Definitly going to get a new PC or upgrade to a Mac that can handle Windows programs on Parallels better/faster. cgpsmapper was the missing program I needed and once I loaded it and typed in the correct file path it installed just fine. Still couldn't get it show up on Mapsource but didn't need to because I was able to convert it with MapConverter for Windows so my Mac could read it and installed it to an SD card for my Garmin! Thank you so much! you just saved me $200+ I would have to pay for this map! :-)
