Garmin Nüvi 2599 System software missing

Hello,

a newbie says hello because he has a major problem and is happy to have found this forum of experts.

While programming my Nüvi 2599 with a new address I noticed the "low battery" message. While I was getting the charger cable the unit went already off. Charging the battery and re-start only brought then the message "System software missing" .

I have tried to reset the unit by open and disconnect the battery for a while, but that did not help. Not starting.... just the above error message

The unit is also not recognized anymore by the "Garmin express" Software on my PC. But the unit is listed in Windows under USB Garmin.

Anything else I can try before returning the 2599 to Garmin for service? I tried to call the Garmin Germany hotline this morning but after hanging in line for 15 Min. I was kicked out of the line... and wasn't bothered to try again...
