How to move maps to my sd card
Hello all
I have a question regarding moving map file to sd card . The unit is a garmin nuvi 2589
My device says nearly full

But i have a sd card (8gb) in the garmin also,

So my ? is which file can i move to the sd card to free up space ? and should they be renamed

In case you like to move something to sd to free some space to add content in internal, just move the gmapprom.img in sd/Garmin

Correct... provided there's a Lifetime Map subscription linked to your n�vi. If it is just space you want to create on the internal storage of your n�vi (for whatever other reason), follow the advice given by catymag: move the file gmapprom.img from n�vi:\.System to SD:\Garmin.

Hi!
My Garmin DriveSmart 60 LMT has only around 10 MB of free space left after the recent update and I believe I will need to add a SD card for the next update.
Is there a way to customize which States go to the SD Card and which States stay on the internal memory?
Or moving all maps to the SD card is the only option?

You can either let GarminExpress handle where it puts map tiles which is what's recommended, or if you really wish to have certain parts of the States on the device's internal memory and others on the card you can download the mapping data to your computer via the installation options for the new map in GE and then using MapInstall send your preferences to the device without completely filling available space. Finally, disconnect the device and connect the SD card in a reader and you can load the remaining preferred map tiles to the card.
