You don't need the 2010 map and it could interfere with the new map so just remove it. Correct naming would be 'gmapprom.img' not 'gmapprompp.img' in any case.
hello,i am new here and looking for help.
i have garmin nuvi 255w.the device has a 2010 map on main memory.becuse this gps only has a 2gb space i had to update map on a SD card.the update on the SD is a 2015 map.GPS turns on and then get a screen "cant unlock map" and OK.when i click OK the gpas goes to main screen and can be use with no problem.i did a back up ,however look like the gmaprompp.img file is corrupted.i used Javawav and this is the warning note for the 2010 map"cant unlock map for designated device, cant open map.i am able use the gps with updated map, but is annoying to go by the "cant unlock map"..any idea thanks

"gmapsupp.img" or "gmapsup1.img" in "Garmin" folder is only one worked way for SD with 255w!!!
Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?
No mate, he's referring to his 2010 gmapprom on internal memory which causes the 'can't unlock map' message which is why i said to remove it. He's said the 2015 map on his SD card is working ok.
