When trying to update maps on nuvi 255WT, using Garmin MapUpdater for both North America and Europe, I received an error message.
“This Garmin GPS is not eligible for this update, because a previous map version is not installed”
Notes
-The device has LifeTime maps for both NA/EU.
-I did not use Garmin Express to update maps, because of the problems being reported by other users.

This is a new but known problem with MU. See: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Post #87 and others earlier.
Use a fake nuvi 'stunt-double' of your device by putting the current GarminDevice.xml in a Garmin folder on a suitably large card or USB stick. GarminExpress will recognise it as the unit and you can dl all the required files then transfer them to the nuvi without having directly exposed it to GE.Last edited by Neil; 23rd August 2014 at 06:30 AM.
