Have you tried to go back to previous firmware?
Reset , downgrade, reset.
Right after the 4.00 update my Garmin 3597 became slower and laggy. Just this week it crashed and rebooted during navigation EVERY time I used it. I don't use any custom poi and I have my map on a SanDisk 16gb micro sdhc. The hard reset didn't help. I was wondering if there is a way to format and bring everything back to the original state (System included). I need this for work and I'd like to fix this ASAP.
Thanks in advance.

Is there any tutorial for this??? I also noticed that this problem started after i decided to replace the sd included with my garmin with a brand new sandisk 16gb microsd hc (which i did at the same time i upgraded to 4.00). After downgrading should i format my sd also and, if have to, which filesystem should i choose??
EDIT: i was wondering if there is a way to delete every file related to the map installed and every unneeded folder to make the garmin "brand new" after downgrading.
I also found some system log about the crashes and reboot inside garmin .system folder. If anyone can make his way through this logs post here and i'll send them (in pm of course beacuse they contain sensitive information about my garmin).
I attached two screenshot of my garmin folder tree. After downgrading what folder should i empty to delete every map file and any unneeded system file??

If you do wish to downgrade, there is an existing thread in the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], you may have missed it when/if you looked there: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Read it all because there is more than one way to downgrade fw.
Sometimes problems can occur from added files such as an 'unofficial' map or GPI file. Try removing any recently added.
If you do need to reformat the 16GB microSDHC, you must do it in FAT32. Windows has a built in tool for that and there are 3rd party free programs you can google.
I'd be looking at other troubleshooting options first before you downgrade, as i haven't heard any other complaints about V4.00 and it's been around since 11th December 2013. Although i have a 3597 myself, i'm still running V3.80 as it's been stable and problem-free for me.

Alright, i just did an hard reset, downgraded to 3.8 (which was extremely stable to me) and then another hard reset. Now i posted the screenshot above of my garmin internal storage so can someone help and tell me which file do i have to delete to remove maps and unnecessary files (to make my garmin "brand new")??
As i said before, if someone is interested in log files to sort through post here. Btw in the log files i found a recurrent error: " Message: Out of memory, r0=not useful, r1=rtrn, r2=blk sz requested} Exception_Info: {} Error_Cause: {1}"
Edit: after that i'd like to reinstall the latest map but not upgrade to 4.00. Can i do it with garmin express or does it force you to upgrade before installing new maps?? If there is a better program to achieve this i'm open to suggestions.

You don't have to delete any files.
If the problem is fixed you are good to go.
The best program to update maps is GarminMapUpdater.exe

I deleted some unneeded files following your list, re-updated to 4.00, installed latest map and everything seems to be working faster than before. I'll test it on the road tomorrow. In the meantime i'd like to thank everyone here at this amazing forum that helped me so many times i've lost count (especially Neil and catymag). Thanks again guys!!!!
Just tested on the road with live traffic and ecoroute hd and it works perfectly (no lag and no random reboot)!!! Thanks again!!
