I have nuvi 765t also, and use it across europe (from scandinavia to southeast europe). i've been using this for several years and i have never crossed any kind of ads on my unit.
and "t" behind model number doesn't apply to lifetime ad-supported traffic subscription. it tells the user that exactly that model comes with traffic receiver unit (tmc).
get your gear right, before you come with the statements that are not true.
if you have problems with ads - change unit or provider.
The answer referred to the post [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]
Ads show up when you are in the States and have a traffic subscription.
So before you come up with a statement which is wrong, make sure you know what you are talking about

"t" behind the model number actually stands for pre-installed TOPO map:

"T" suffix stands for "Lifetime traffic included" (TMC - FM lifetime traffic, 3D Traffic or Digital 3D Traffic HD):

I have a Zumo 660 with a GTM-10 that has an active TTN subscription that doesn't expire until 2013. Is it possible to unlock that to make it a lifetime subscription, and if so, how would I do it? I would then add a Navteq subscription using the instructions from this thread.
Thanks.
Hi all,
Thanks for the post! It's very helpful.
I just have a question though, I entered the code for Canberra, Australia and it now shows up at SUNA (AUS) on my device. It didn't specify for which region I entered it for. I then started to enter in a 2nd code for Sydney, Australia and it still only shows up the one SUNA (AUS) subscription. Question is, do I still need to enter in all the codes for each Australian state for it to work in all the Australian cities? Or is just entering the one code enough?
BTW: I have the GTM 36 with nuvi 3590.
Thanks!
My Steps For Permanently Activating Total Traffic Network and NAVTEQ On GTM 20 and Nuvi 880
Please note that I don't check these boards often so if this does not work for you, I'm sorry, YMMV. I'm just sharing what worked for me in the hopes that they will not have to read through the hundreds of pages that I did on Noeman.org I hope this works for other Nuvi models other than mine, as I expect it should since the problematic device is the GTM 20.
Please read all the way through first. If you're confused by the instructions, I'm sure others can explain Jetmouse 1.3 v Jetmouse 1.5; 0, 0, 0 v 0, 0, 1; etc.
To me, these seem to be the important details:
1) Make sure the Mapset is named "All" exactly with the lowercase l's and no quotes. Not sure why but it's something I came across. Therefore, Map Info will read "CN North America NT 2013.10" Next Line: "All" The mapset name might have been a problem for some.
2) Do a complete power cycle. The Nuvi provides power to the GTM 20, even if you unplug the GTM 20 from the socket. I also took out the battery on the Nuvi. A full 10 second wait is recommended. So turn off Nuvi, take out battery, unplug GTM 20, disengage GTM 20 from Nuvi. Incomplete power cycling is almost surely the problem for some.
3) Must turn off TTN USA and CAN.
4) Must download and use Jetmouse 1.3 Modded for Traffic. Is this the magic step? I don't know as the discussion included hex code explanations of why 4095 was the important number.
5) Must add both TTN USA and CAN.
I think some of the steps are redundant. NAVTEQ seems to hold no matter what so adding NAVTEQ CAN is probably not necessary. Adding TTN USA, power cycling and then adding TTN USA and CAN. Probably also redundant. I just took everything that worked for others and threw it in there. FastIMG Unlocker? Probably not related but given the oddity about the Mapset name, who knows?
I followed these steps and I now have TTN and NAVTEQ Lifetime with No Ads on my Nuvi 880. Again, YMMV. Good luck!
Steps
1) Install Maps Directly from Mapsource 6.16.3
2) Rename the Mapset “All” (The First Letter Caps, The Last Two Lower Case)
3) Copy IMG File from Device to PC
4) Run FastIMG Unlocker 2.1
5) Copy IMG File from PC to Device
6) Add *.unl File
7) 28935, 0, 0, 0 (Turn Off NAVTEQ USA With Code Generated By Jetmouse 1.5 - Garmin Keygen v1.5 + CF.exe)
8) Power Cycle (Turn Off Nuvi, Unplug GTM 20 From Power, Undock Nuvi From GTM 20, Pull Out Nuvi Battery, Check To Make Sure All Lights Off On GTM 20, Wait 10 Seconds)
9) 28935, 0, 0, 0 (Turn Off NAVTEQ USA Again)
10) 31751, 0, 0, 0 (Turn Off NAVTEQ CAN)
11) Power Cycle
12) 28992, 0, 0, 0 (Turn Off TTN USA)
13) Power Cycle
14) 28992, 0, 0, 0 (Turn Off TTN USA Again)
15) 31808, 0, 0, 0 (Turn Off TTN Canada)
16) Power Cycle
17) 4095, 0, 0, 1 (Turn On TTN USA With Code Generated By Jetmouse 1.3 Modded For Traffic - jmgkg13modTMCExp.exe)
18) Power Cycle
19) 28992, 0, 0, 1 (Turn On TTN USA)
20) 31808, 0, 0, 1 (Turn On TTN Canada)
21) Power Cycle
22) 28935, 0, 0, 1 (Turn On NAVTEQ USA)
23) 31751, 0, 0, 1 (Turn On NAVTEQ CAN) This is the only optional step. TTN needs to be turned on both for USA and CAN so wanting to be safe, I entered the code for NAVTEQ CAN. In Southern California, you need a GPS signal and a connection to Canada to activate NAVTEQ CAN. I entered the Turn Off Code for NAVTEQ CAN and all seems to be fine. I guess you would turn it on if you're near the Canadian border but if you're not, whether it's on the GTM 20 or not does not seem to affect NAVTEQ's USA service.
24) Power Cycle
Please note that I did not ever use the same code twice. I generated different turn off and on codes for everything. So, you're spending some quality time in Jetmouse...
Was it worth all this effort? The GTM 20 cost me less than $20 shipped on eBay and it's kind of nice that my old Nuvi has both traffic and voice recognition, helpful for when I'm using my iPhone for other tasks. However, the quality of the traffic reports from either Clear Channel/TTN and Navteq is clearly inferior to what a dozen apps on the iPhone, including Google Maps, can provide. If the CC/TTN doesn't stick for you, I'd honestly tell you that you're not losing much. And that's saying a lot in Los Angeles, where you'd think the quality of the traffic reports would be better.
Good luck all :-)
I have tried to follow your instructions for obtaining an unlock code to obtain traffic capability. I have a Nuvi 760 and a GTM 20 traffic receiver. When I go to ADD in the traffic menu I do NOT get a traffic receiver ID. All I get is my unit number. Am I supposed to get an ID number from the GTM 20 itself? Even if I were to obtain a traffic receiver ID number, where do I input it in the Jetmouse Keygen? There is only a Unit ID entry. Is that supposed to be used to input the ID's for both the Nuvi and the GTM 20? I am confused.
Read instructions in post n1 how to create the .unl code. To get the TMC receiver ID, the TMC receiver must be connected
As I mentioned in my previous post, the TMC Receiver is connected. I get no receiver ID. When I try to ADD a subscription it tells me to go to the garmin website and provide the unit id number being displayed. The only number that is displayed is my Nuvi ID but no traffic receiver ID number. Again, the GMT 20 is connected. Both lights on the GMT 20 are lit. So I don't know what to try next. After I click NEXT on the Nuvi it prompts me for the unlock code given to me by Garmin. Again, there is never Receiver ID displayed.
