I purchased the Garmin DriveAssist 50LMT from US with US lifetime map.
My Question - Is it possible to change the unit firmware from US to our MAL/SG localise set in order to Update with Free Lifetime Map from MAL/SG?
@satcure
It might be possible to flash MY/SG firmwear to your US device depending on whether the PCB P/Ns match: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. If they don't match then it's not possible. However, even if you can convert it safely it won't have a legal right to any MY/SG mapping without purchasing on a 'OneTime' basis. You cannot even purchase an LM subscription for any other region. This is because the Unit ID remains unchanged after the cross-flash and it's both the UID and HWID which the Garmin servers look at. UID to determine OEM region map rights and HWID to determine associated ancillary files. So even if your HWID was changed from 2270 to any other HWID the device would still get the US LM map updates but no other. That's despite the fact that messing with firmware is a clear breach of Garmin's EULA. It is possible to patch it to use unlocked mapping however: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
Changes made from version 5.40 to 5.70:
• Fixed an issue on FMI-enabled devices that caused timestamps of submitted forms to be incorrect.
• Improved traffic search performance.
• Improved software stability.
