I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there's no way I know of to do this.
Is there any way to use most recent maps (NT) on older units like the Quest or StreetPilot 2610?

Given the OP specifically asking if it was possible to convert the maps, I wouldn't be talking about anything else. As to the thread you linked to, given that it is specific for the Goldwing, I don't believe it will work for other devices. In my opinion, the OP should purchase a new GPS and avoid the hassle of trying to find ways to get the maps working on a device that doesn't support them.
@Strephon Alkhalikoi
I really don't particularly want to argue semantics, but the above is what he asked "....use most recent maps (NT) on older units...", not "convert non-NT to NT maps". My observation that you were "probably referring to the maps" was to avoid trying to read too much into your brief reply. Had i said that you "were only referring to converting the maps" (which you've confirmed you were) i think you may have good cause to then accuse me of mind-reading
The link to the other thread for him to look at "for starters" was meant simply to highlight that there just may be other ways for him to check out given that it's impossible for map conversion at this time and that it is unlikey to change. The link i gave has an unfortunate and somewhat optimistic title perhaps, but here's a quote from it:
and if either that or something else he tries doesn't work, what's his loss? His unit is practically worthless anyway. Your advice is correct in practical terms, in that he should just replace it. However, he's gone to the trouble of looking for a way to keep using it, and like me, maybe he would get a bit of fun our of trying to mod it to keep it running with modern maps. If you were he, you'd probably chuck it out by the sound of it. If i were he, i'd have a go and be no worse off. Horses for courses. It's probably impossibe, but maybe the software gurus might take it on as a challengeThis may work for other older Garmin GPS units???![]()
You're absolutely right. He said "use", which I interpreted as "convert". I was thinking in terms of the maps and not the device. As to that Goldwing patch, if he has a newer unit already then by all means let him play around with the patch. However I suspect that based upon his question, he has one or both of those devices and they are his daily use devices. Which only reinforces my opinion that he should be purchasing a new unit.
Ok. Thank you for your sugestions.
I have newer units that work with NT maps, so i would like to try that Goldwing patch on the Quest or the StreetPilot.
The question now is how to put the Goldwing patch on the units since you dont have access to the files, as we do with newer units. So, how to upload the Goldwing patch on the Quest or the StreetPilot?
The Goldwing units update with either cf or sd cards i think. It's a long time since i had anything at all to do with either of your units and i've never owned one, but don't remember them having a media card slot. If you can use usb/serial connection for either or both StreetPilot or Quest, go [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] for info/download on garmin updater.exe.
