SQL Files

I have several maps loaded onto the same SD card. For this I have figured out that I can rename the img file to anything I like. Therefore avoiding naming conflicts and to make managing the files easier.
Does the same thing apply to the associated .SQL files? Or does the map need to access the sql file by the hard coded filename.?

I've tried renaming the sql files and I dont get any errors. However I'm not really sure what functions these databases provide, so therefore dont know how to properly test that they can be accessed when needed.

I think is any file name is available because Garmin is reading internal file name (part number) into file content. Probably you can check this in gamindevice.xml file!
But I have a suspicion about efficiency of SQL files on SD. SW is not contain link to this file type for SD card only for device internal memory...

All Gamnin devices recognize SQL files only in internal memory. You do not need to rename them. You can check this in gamindevice.xml file in Garmin folder on internal memory.

You say I do not need to rename them.. But can I rename them if I want to? Makes managing files at a later date easier because I can easily identify files I've added and are safe to delete.

It seems that I have the Trails option in the Find menu whether the SQL file is on the SD card or on internal memory. In both locations however, it is painfully slow, making it almost impossible to scroll the list and select a trail. Is that normal?

Please, specify the model of the devices and database name! You were answered for other reasons? Precisely with NamedTrails on portable device there are no problem on SD.

It is a GPAMAP 64s. Slightly conflicting advice here.
I can search for and find named trails with the databases on the SD card. Does that mean the databases are accessible from this location? Or are there other features of these databases that may not work with them on the card?
