Why would you use vectorised maps on GM XT/PC when there are thousand of softwares for raster maps for Win.Mob/Windows?
Hello ddabcd277!
Only GM XT/PC uses encrypted map files (true NT type, which I can create in MPC 7.22). And I can combine autovectorized ratsters with true vector in a single encrypted file. In t=other words I do not want to distibute original data and prefer encrypted NT maps. Which is quite common I think.

I understand now. BTW I think I have encounter softwares for Win.Mob./Windows that are specialized for such tasks. Unfortunately, can't remember now. (ESRI/Pitney Bows? Don't know.) That is all I will wrote. Maybe you can try Cnfhbr proposal with Bma2mp.

Try yet the Easy Trace Pro to compare:

Hi, Cnfhbr! Thank you for your suggestion but it did not work:
1. BMap2MP is WAY too limited in colors to work with imagery (satellite/aerial).
2. All of several BMap2MP-made img samples (of scanned maps) which I downloaded from internet failed to render properly in Garmin Mobile PC. You can easily verify it or I can post screenshots.
3. Moagu img produce tolerable img from imagery (satellite/aerial). However, Moagu img files do not render any properly in Garmin Mobile PC.
It is quite sad that it seems there is no solution to load autovectorized raster maps and imagery to Garmin Mobile PC/XT..
Mapwel developer in one of the forums promised to cosider adding Garmin Mobile PC/XT support, but eventually he did not..
@ddabcd277
ESRI has so called Data Developer Kit to produce encrypted vector (no rater support) map in Teleatlas/NavTeq format. But this software has never been available outside ESRI..
Pitney Bowes or any other software have nothing close to Garmin MPC 7.. I am pretty confident at it as I search Internet for many month for it. Having Garmin MPC 7 available is rare treat
The only similar solution which can make encrypted maps is CarryMap by DataEast made as extension to ArcInfo. But you can not lock CarryMap maps to certain hardware ID, that is way I need to bother with MPC 7. Again no solution to bring rasters into Garmin img fro Garmin Mobile PC.
Cnfhbr earlier mentioned MicroGIS software which claims to produce maps in closed proprietary (i.e. locked) format (mgm extension). My first
look at the Ukranian forum of MicroGIS developers/users did not gave any good impressions at all. The programmers do not explain the level of vector data security in this mgm format. And do not guarantee that this format will remain encryped in the future.
Hi, Cnfhbr!
EasyTrace is nice vectorization software, but it has nothing to do with encryped map formats. As I mentioned
I want to producу navigation map from combination of vector and raster data and lock this map to certain Hardare ID. I can make such maps for Garmin devices (through the MPC 7, which is kindly posed at noeman), but I also want to run such maps on Laptops and mobile devices through Garmin Mobile PC/XT and Garmin StreetPilot for Iphone.
Thank you for your suggestions!
I am sorry, but I do not get your idea. The major problem is that Garmin Mobile PC/XT will NOT render custom (user-defined) maps properly no matter how I produce these maps (via EasyTrace, MapWel or other software). I was hoping that some softeare will produce custom (with user-defined styles of POLYGON areas) maps that will render correctly in Garmin Mobile PC, but it seems that there is no such available..
EastTrace 7.99 (I believe that you mentioned this particular version) is far less advanced than WiseImage 12 (available at lavteam.net). Anyone using EastTrace 7.99 should definitely switch to WiseImage 12 to get better results with less caffeine.
Regards.
