Anyone aware of similar tool that does "Automatic conversion of whole raster image to vectors (i.e. Garmin img)"? I mean similar to bmap2mp or mapwel but with more advanced functionality. 86 colors for raster imagery (Mapwel upper limit for now) is not sufficient for very good maps. Thank you!
found cured release of MapWel 5.5

Enjoy!
With all due respect to your deserved reputation, Cnfhbr, this is the only crac ked version available in my knowledge. Or may be you can point me to a newer release of cra ck?
Hopefully you are not part of Mapwel developers/support team I read some post where people mentioned that Mapwel self-protection is pretty good now.
While being outdated this cra cked pro version has some good tools (e.g. automatic vectorization) that are not available in any trial releases.
Regards!

Mapwel versus GPSMapEdit and cGpsMapper?
Questions:
1) What is lost when importing an MP file?
2) What map/GPS features can MapWel implement that GPSMapEdit and cGpsMapper cannot?
I have a lot of time invested in building a local map with GPSMapEdit. The limitations I ran into first are the limited POI categories and Search Intersections - compared with other professional map products for Garmin.
I just installed the Garmin tool to play with. I'm sure it can do everything. 2 problems. First is the conversion from MP looks tedious. Second is if I ever want to do something legitimate with it - the cost is a show stopper.
MapWel advanced is affordable - IF it is worth conversion.
Cnfhbr, at the present moment I thinking more about some other software platform to build my maps, instead of Garmin. If someone wants to make personal legal proprietary maps with locked (protected from export) data and expiry period there are good quite affordable legal software solutions for this. For instance, CarryMap by DataEast (this is not advertisement). For a very affordable price one can legally produce executable map files with locked and protected data with expiry date set for many mobile OS. And the technology to build these maps is much simpler than that for Garmin img ( GPSMapEdit + mp2shp + MPC, etc.).. I just go ArcGIS->CarryMap with all louts, topologies preserved. Of course CarryMap maps are simpler than Garmin (no routing, no 3d..).
