It seems that your device contains any other locked map in internal memory or on a microSD at the moment.
Remove all unnecessary maps from the device, do a hard reset (or clearing Nonvol) and try only one this unprotected map ...

In the internal memory is only the original Garmin OSM Cycle map. (no changes than delivery)
On SD-Card are only four OSM maps.
Without TransAlpin no message "maps not locked"

Seems the reason for the "cannot unlock maps" message on Edge 1000 ist the last release of the OSM openmtbmap whith is Unicode and not GTA v4

Problem postet here:

I will test the new verson of non Unicode openmtbmap or better the GTA without this OSM

Have you done a hard reset (or clearing Nonvol) as I requested above?
My understanding is that you tried the unlocked map before installing the unprotected map.

P.S. How exactly the message "Karten nicht freigeschaltet" is shown in English? Try to set the English Text on the device ...

-No I made no soft or hard reset
-yes I tried GTA and CN 2014.xx + 2015.10 unlocked maps some time ago
-the message in english is "cannot unlock maps"
-topo Germany v6 or other older totp maps are running

(in the moment the device runs garmin cycle map update 2014.20 - it needs some time - 5GB with RAM DSL 7000)

Please try to do a hard reset (or clearing Nonvol) after updating.

IMHO: Map cannot be used if your device displays the message "Cannot unlock maps" concerning this particular map.

Need confirmation from other users of newest devices ...

Works fine on nüvi 66 without any error messages.

maybe @dirtbikermp3 has another img file on the device or sd-card, and that file is the one is locked and the reason to receive the message

No more locked or unlocked maps are on my Edge at the Moment of testing. The message comes only when GTA is on it.

I will try without any orher maps.

I don't want to reset because I don't want to loose my settings and my training history and statitics summary.
