Hey,
I used a few maps from this site previously on my Garmin Oregon 450 and a patched MapSource version from here. While I have been busy for quite some time, I have a new computer now and some more time (and the weather is improving) so I thought I download the latest MapSource and look for a new topographical map of Germany.
I downloaded this map quite a while ago and can't remember which one I used, but I'm assuming it must be the MapSource version (since I have a few files which extract and install automatically and an instruction by p!xeldealer). Today I downloaded MapSource 6.16.3 and MapInstall 3.15.0 both with the patch as well. Works fine so far.
I'm running Win 7 x64 and it looks to me as if the default folder is
C:\ProgramData\GARMIN\Maps
now.
So I followed the instructions outlined by p!xeldealer and opened MapSource, the logo came up and under "Maps" this map was listed. But there was nothing to see, just an empty screen with lots of empty tiles.
I tried it a few times with a updated .reg file as mentioned previously in the thread but none of it worked.
I also checked the registry and tried updating it myself (changing the folder from [C:\Garmin] to the "new" [C:\ProgramData\GARMIN\Maps] in the registry) but nothing changed, the map is still listed in MapSource as "non lookable" but I can't see a thing.
The "standard" .reg file that came with the map installation looks like this:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Garmin\Mapsource\FamiliesNT\FAMILY_2215]
"ID"=hex:A7,08
"IDX"="C:\\Garmin\\FAMILY_2215\\TDBtopod.mdx"
"MDR"="C:\\Garmin\\FAMILY_2215\\MDRMAP.img"
"TYP"="C:\\Garmin\\FAMILY_2215\\I00008A7.TYP"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Garmin\Mapsource\FamiliesNT\FAMILY_2215\1]
"Loc"="C:\\Garmin\\FAMILY_2215\\"
"Bmap"="C:\\Garmin\\FAMILY_2215\\Basemap.img"
"Tdb"="C:\\Garmin\\FAMILY_2215\\TDBtopod.tdb"
I can download a new or different version, but I get a bit confused by what I actually "need", I would like to have the maps in MapSource, so that I can "play" around in it on the computer and then transfer it to the GPS (as I have done it in the past, e.g. copied the IMG to the computer first and used one of the unlockers to unlock the map and then copying it to the GPS/SD Card).
If someone could help me (I know, it's not the newest thread anymore) I would really appreciate it, I tried the best I could before bothering you guys.
Thanks a lot in advance.
