In C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\GARMIN\Maps I have CNNT NA 2011.31 gmapprom.rar (parts 1-5), these are WinRAR archive. Also have gmapprom.img, IMG File 1,356,384 KB
I have no maps in Manage map product window.
After installing MapSource from Garmin, I was prompted to launch the application. Should I have not launched it before I replaced the .exe?
As said in post 1097, gmapprom.img is an image file NOT a Mapsource installation, if you want your map in Mapsource you need the gmap folder.
Phones dont see maps greater than 2gb, so, or you install part of the map with Mapsource (gmap folder in the right path) selecting and sending a part less than 2gb or you need a precompiled img (less than 2gb) and copy it in your phone sd in Garmin folder.
you would have saved your time if you had read

OMG! i feel like such an idiot. Sorry to waste your time. I got caught up in all the Mapsource/Mapinstall/Gmaptool information making it much harder than it had to be. After reading your advice again it all became clear, and everything was successful with the install.
One question I would like to ask is what are the advancements/improvements of the Garmin mobile XT 5.00.60 in the guide as compared to the 5.00.20w I am running on my phone currently?

Hello,
I would like to know if my Colorado will work with the Garmin Birdseye maps that we can download for 29$. Did anyone try this ? How is the map quality vs a vectorial topo map ? I intend to use them for France and Switzerland. Thank you for you help.
A vector map is a database that describes the road network, i.e. the information needed for a route planning system to ‘know’ how to find the route through a road system."Vector" maps display digitized information. In other words, every depth, they allow the user to display "layers" of information .A vector map is a lot faster to scroll, zoom, get particulars.vector maps are easier to read.
A raster map is a picture. It gives only image information.A raster-scanned electronic map is like an electronic snapshot of a paper chart. On-screen it looks just like the same familiar paper charts you've used for years. If you're using a color monitor, you'll usually see the original colors from the paper chart.
Raster charts in any orientation but "north up" (or whatever matches the original raster chart orientation) are not readable because text and labels are pointing sideways or upside down. Vector maps can be rendered with text and icons "right side up" regardless of course and chart rotation..
