Maybe you can add a french keyboard to your device, then you can select it in the options, like I can select Chinese

Garmin XT keyboard
hi! to all,
Garmin XT on WinMo runs an "ABCD" keyboard
I searched on Google then in the forum, but couldn't find any valuable answer to this question:
is it possible to change WinMo Garmin XT keyboard for an "AZERTY" one (sorry ... I'm French)?

I have an HTC HD2 with French ROM running WM6.5
when I look in:
A] Tools/Settings/System
I just have the option (2nd page) "Device with keyboard = YES - NO"
which I answer NO ... as my device has only a virtual one
B] Tools/Settings/Display
I just have the option "Keyboards" with a list of local keyboards
in which I check the French one box
I restart the app and end up with ... the ABCD keyboard!!!
wich files in which folders are the keyboards I could add you're mentioning?

I keep on Googling for my question and stumbled on these 2 sites
OK it's in French BUT ...

is a 3 years old Garmin XT test saying the keyboard is only ABCD in "Une ergonomie perfectible"
so ... nothing changed in between???

but ... I can't find this file in my Garmin XT folders!!!

so if Mods or Admins feel this useful for NUVI users, I'll make a translation

When you enable the French keyboard, you can access the extra French characters by clicking on button on the right bottom.
Another option is to use the Asian version which let you input the text using the installed keyboards on your windows mobile. The only feature you will miss in the Asian version is the French interface.
Download the latest Asian version from here:

After the usual installation process, copy any font you like to the directory \Storage card\Garmin\Font and rename the font to Chinese.ttf . The program won't work without this file. Now run the program and find your way to the page where you set the language to English and Enjoy!!
