New Google Maps 5.0 now available
The most significant new feature is called “dynamic map drawing”. Now the map is represented by vectors instead of flat images that render smoothly all the time. The new Map will also show the buildings in details for more than 100 cities. Engadget thinks it looks great! The map is tilt-able and rotatable in addition to the usual pinch-to-zoom using your two fingers. Part of the reason for its smoothness is because vector format means less raw data to process. And thank to smaller data, the Maps will now keep more data in the cache – once visited, it will be stored locally as well, hence no need to re-download already visited places.
