    Unhappy

Guys not sure if this is just my problem or not but I think this is only the demo map that is hacked not the contributors version?

This version has low res polygons like the new demo map (1.14). The roads look very bad now with only a thin line like the very old map version from '09.

I'll stick to 1.13d as that is a true contributors map which has the full polygons and looks 100x better... or am I the only one with this problem?

    Please compare:

1.13d contributors - looks great, nice polygons looks good on gps

    (remove spaces from http)
    h t t p://tinyurl.com/3agjh2b

1.14 contributors (or hacked demo). roads look bad, low polygons, looks bad on gps

    (remove spaces from http)
    h t t p://tinyurl.com/25mnwtt

It really makes a world of a difference when looking at it from the gps, just viewing from the computer is not as bad but still not as good. If there is a 'true' contributors version like the 1.13d that would be really great or please let me know if this is only my problem and I'm doing something wrong. On mapsource or gps unit the roads will only come as thin orange/red line instead of detailed polygon white like the 1.13d

I have triple checked the 1.14 and indeed it shows the low polygon version on both the mapsource and unlocked img (gmapupps.img) links that were posted

Sigh, I wish I could just pay/donate for the map to get the real version but they require you to draw roads, add pois, in order to get upgraded to the contributor version, they don't accept payment. Bit too complicated for me.

Thanks to the OP for sharing.

The 1.14 map that was posted is not a hacked demo map but a genuine contributors version. I believe the display difference is a result of the a different typ file that was used on previous versions. But those are just display issues and i will try to get the typ file that contributors use to convert them back to previous display. But the more important thing is that this is a better map version in terms of map coverage and routing updates. Look at Davao area and compare the 1.13d and 1.14 versions and you'll know what I mean.

And afaik, the mods of roadguide.ph removed the routing features in the latest demo map. But the 1.14 version posted here has a working routing, which means it is not a hacked demo map but a contributors version indeed.

Thanks very much vortex8 for the explanation. Would be really great if you could do that. Thanks again to the OP for posting the original contributors map in the first place, I jumped to conclusions and thought they reduced the demo map polygons but didn't know the contributor one was like that too so I thought this was a hacked demo.

    My apologies.

A temporary workaround I have found is to put the 1.13d on the main gps memory, and this version on the SD slot. It combined the maps for me and now I can view it with better polygons (except the new areas I guess). Only problem is I cant use my OSM map (for backup/areas not on roadguide) now so hopefully the .typ can be updated later. I'm not sure which map version routing is used as priority either, I'm guessing the 1.13d as its priority mode on the display, so again this is just a temporary workaround and an update would be great to sort it.

    Thanks again.

Install this typ file to change the map graphics in mapsource. Enjoy!
